about

"Got a light? Then shine it..." The opening lyric from LA-based sludge metal band Biomass sets a powerfully positive tone for their debut heavy LP "Bloom." Drawing inspiration from doom metal, hardcore punk, eastern mysticism, and, well, being super goddamn stoned, Biomass delivers a potent dose of punishing riffage and "irie vibes." Flowing from ecstatic drones to thrashing choruses to deranged bass solos, this burnt 4-piece crashes through genre boundaries like a Zen monk tears through illusions. These are riffs from beyond the matrix, from the collective unconscious, from loving human beings just like you. Follow the smoke toward the riff-filled land - your own heart.

From vocalist and drummer Luke Aronie:
"I wanted Bloom to be shamelessly positive. Doom 'n gloom in heavy music gets boring quick. Yes, life on earth can be absolutely shitty and brutal sometimes, but there's still so much beauty and magic to behold in this strange world. This record's about seeing through the cracks, about laughing with your friends, about tearing down broken systems and building new ones centered around love."
